Jewellery Care

We hope that you will be very pleased with your purchase from Golden Garnet.

Every item we sell on this site, has been meticulously hand crafted to provide you with an excellent quality product that we hope will last you for many years to come.

The care instructions will vary from product to product, so please read the below information carefully to see what information relates to your purchase.

As mentioned above, all products have been hand crafted, meaning they are fragile and should be handled with the utmost care.

Bracelets and Stretch Bracelets

With proper care, your stretch bracelet can last you a good couple of years.

To put the bracelet on, simply roll the bracelet gently onto the wrist and to remove it gently roll the bracelet off.

Never stretch or pull the bracelet open to put it on, as this can cause the bracelet to snap and break.

Depending on the design of your bracelet, certain beads or charms, especially anything that's sterling silver and silver or gold plated, are prone to tarnish. This is just a natural chemical reaction. It's caused by the metals reacting with natural moisture, oxygen and sulphur which causes it to oxidise and tarnish.

The speed at which it will become tarnished varies depending on a number of factors. However, following the below instructions can help slow the process down.

*When not in use, remove and store away the bracelet, ideally in an air tight bag out of natural daylight.

*Try not get the bracelet wet or submerge in any water.

*Avoid and keep away from any liquids or chemicals.

*Keep away from perfumes, aerosols such as hairspray, body creams, lotions (including sun lotion) and oils or ensure that they have completely dried on your skin before putting the bracelet on.

*Always remove the bracelet before doing any household cleaning, cooking, exercise and before you go bed, this will prevent any accidental damage.

Keep out of direct sunlight for long periods of time, as this can cause some beads to fade.

If the bracelet you purchase features any metal beads or charms, you will receive a free jewellery polishing cloth/pad with your order.

Using A Jewellery Polishing Cloth/Pad:

Very gently buff the tarnished piece until the tarnish has been removed.

Do not over use the cloth or pad, it should be used very lightly. If the item is plated, overuse can cause the full plating to come off.

Do not use the cloth or pad with any water or chemicals, it should be used dry.

A set of instructions will also be sent together with your order.

Rosaries

Our handcrafted Rosaries are fragile and should be handled with care. Avoid pulling or tugging at the Rosary as this can cause the chain or wire to break.

The Rosary is made up of several silver/gold plated components, which is prone to tarnish over time. Follow the steps below to slow down the tarnishing process.

*When not in use please store away ideally in an air tight bag/box out of direct sunlight and heat.

*Keep away from water, liquids, perfume, chemicals, aerosols, lotions and oils, as this can cause the metal to tarnish and damage/dullen the beads.

*Store each Rosary separately to avoid entanglement.

Earrings

All our handmade earrings are fragile and should be looked after with great care.

The ear wires we use are made from either from surgical stainless steel (which is hypoallergenic), stainless steel or gold plated stainless steel.

*Avoid unnecessarily pulling the on beads or wire as this can cause it to become misshapen.

*Please store away in an airtight box/bag when not in use.

*Keep away from water, liquids, perfume, chemicals, aerosols, lotions and oils, as this can cause the metal to tarnish and damage/dullen the beads.

Necklaces

*Please store away in an airtight box/bag when not in use.

*When storing away, please ensure that it is kept flat, so that the necklace doesn't lose it's shape.
